Submission to the South Australian Boating Facilities Advisory Committee (SABFAC) for a network of South Australian public “Safety/Courtesy moorings”

All other states in Australia currently have networks of courtesy/safety moorings. We are the only state without one. Our estimate is that our boating sector (“blue water cruising”) have  contributed some $9.5 million into the Facilities Levy fund which is part of our annual boat registration fee over the 26 years of its collection.

We have an important information meeting at the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron on the Department of Industry and Transport’s (DIT) grant application to start such a network. This grant application would be to the South Australian Boating Facilities Advisory Committee (SABFAC) in September 2023.
